Turn Debt into Hope campaign | Dean's Flames of Hope message

Millions of children are missing out on school, countless families are being prevented from getting medical treatments and communities are lacking the resources they need to rebuild after disasters. This because of a global debt crisis affecting more than 50 countries who are facing the invidious choice of paying huge interest bills to foreign creditors or investing in the crucial and basic public services people need to live decent and dignified lives. The Turn Debt into Hope campaign is calling for action to end this crisis, by cancelling unjust and unpayable debts and pushing for reforms to prevent future debt crises. The ‘Flames of Hope’ campaign action takes inspiration from the letter Pope Francis wrote in which he said: "We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us". The action encourages people around the world to help to keep the flame burning by sharing a message about what hope they believe ending the debt crisis will bring and what hope they have that decision makers will act.
