Caritas Africa hosted the Deus Caritas Est Conference in Abidjan from 17–20 March 2026, bringing together delegates from across Africa and beyond to reflect on Caritas in action across the continent. The event marked key milestones: 75 years of Caritas Internationalis, 40 years of Caritas Africa, and 20 years since the encyclical Deus Caritas Est by Pope Benedict XVI. It was both a moment to celebrate the impact of Caritas at the grassroots and to reflect on the work that still lies ahead to support communities facing poverty, crisis and inequality.
