From survival to stability: How economic inclusion transforms lives at the last mile

In some of India’s most excluded communities, survival often comes before everything else. Families face hunger, unstable incomes, and difficult choices, including sending children to work instead of school. This video brings together the voices of women who once struggled to meet their families’ most basic needs, and who are now building stable livelihoods with dignity and confidence. Through access to timely support, livelihood assets, financial inclusion, and continuous coaching under the Graduation Approach, their journeys have shifted from uncertainty to stability. Today, they run small enterprises, send their children to school, save for the future, and participate actively in their communities. This is what economic inclusion looks like when it reaches the last mile. The Samaveshi Aajeevika Yojana, under the aegis of the Ministry of Rural Development and DAY-NRLM, works to ensure that chronically vulnerable households are supported through a structured, time-bound pathway toward sustainable livelihoods and social empowerment.
