Herding for Health and Prosperity in Botswana

For the people of Phuduhudu, Botswana, herding isn’t just a livelihood, it’s a way of life. But growing pressure on the land makes water less reliable, resulting in degraded lands and shrinking habitats for the wildlife that sustains their communities. Through Herding for Health, in partnership with Conservation International, the Green Climate Fund, and supported by the Government of Botswana, communities are leading efforts to restore balance – combining planned grazing, local knowledge, and community-driven governance that puts people in charge of their own landscapes. In Phuduhudu and beyond, lasting conservation is #HumanPowered and this #EarthMonth we’re spotlighting the communities and individuals leading the way. LEARN MORE: conservation.org/earthday
