Mongolia: Turning Trash into Treasures in Subzero Temperatures
Ulaanbaatar is facing mountains of food waste, causing pollution and health risks. While recycling food scraps is a clear solution, Mongolia’s long and dry winters make recycling challenging. Meanwhile, the demand for compost is on the rise. ADB and Japan are supporting a recycling pilot program focused on composting, which works well for homes, schools, and communities even during harsh winter months.
