Kwibuka 32: UN Resident Coordinator a.i. Remarks | Dr. Fatmata Lovetta Sesay
On 22 April 2026, the United Nations Family in Rwanda gathered in Kigali to commemorate Kwibuka 32 — the 32nd Commemoration of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda, observed during the 100 days of national mourning under the theme: “Remember — Unite — Renew.”
In her remarks, Dr. Fatmata Lovetta Sesay, UN Resident Coordinator a.i., honors the memory of over one million lives lost, pays tribute to survivors and fallen UN colleagues, and reaffirms the global responsibility to uphold truth, reject genocide denial, and ensure that such atrocities never happen again.
The speech also highlights Rwanda’s remarkable journey of resilience, unity, and reconciliation, and calls on all communities worldwide to confront hate speech, division, and misinformation before they escalate into violence.
