Midwife Karima at the UNICEF-supported health clinic. UNICEF| Afghanistan
Karima became a midwife because the night she was born, her mother only had a neighbour to help her. The labour lasted two nights. 13 years later, along with her team she delivers up to 40 babies a month at her clinic in Afghanistan.
With support from Asian Development Bank, we provide training and equipment to health workers like Karima across nearly 2,400 health facilities, so more mothers and babies survive.
