Brazil is officially off the Hunger Map - President Lula da Silva
In a conversation with Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva hailed the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty and celebrated the news that Brazil has officially been removed from the UN Hunger Map, with the country’s share of undernourished people falling below FAO’s 2.5% threshold (based on the 2022–2024 average). This achievement was confirmed during the launch of the 2025 edition of The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI) in Ethiopia.
