Lutheran World Relief: Lebanon Crisis Humanitarian Update
In this urgent update, Lutheran World Relief Program Director Ali Hijazi details the escalating humanitarian crisis in Lebanon as part of ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The Lebanon conflict has reached unprecedented levels of intensity. Strikes have devastated residential communities across central Beirut, South Lebanon and the Bekaa region. With more than 1.2 million people displaced — accounting for over 23% of the country's population — urgent action is required to save lives and preserve human dignity.
Lutheran World Relief is rapidly deploying life-saving emergency health services through local partners. Our operations focus on delivering critical support to internally displaced people in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, prioritizing the most vulnerable: older adults, pregnant women and individuals with disabilities.
