As part of World Press Freedom Day 2025, this webinar brings together experts to discuss the growing repression of independent journalism in Turkey, Serbia, and Georgia. Journalists in these countries face escalating threats while covering protests and exposing state abuses — from police violence and arbitrary detention to online harassment and censorship. This urgent conversation explores how authoritarian tactics are silencing media and what international actors can do to support press freedom. We discussed the dangers journalists face during protests, legal and digital tools used to suppress reporting, smear campaigns and online intimidation, resistance strategies and international accountability.
