Ebola Outbreak Called Public Health Emergency, EPA Drops Some Limits on PFAS, Trump’s Stock Trades
Here’s what happened in health care this week:
— The director-general of the World Health Organization has declared the ongoing Ebola situation an international public health emergency. More than 100 people in the Democratic Republic of Congo have died from the Ebola virus this spring, and hundreds more are infected.
— The EPA announced it’s dropping some limits on PFAS — often called “forever chemicals — in drinking water. That’s angered many people within the MAHA movement. But HHS Secretary RFK Jr. insists the administration is taking the issue seriously.
— President Donald Trump disclosed thousands of stock trades made on his behalf earlier this year. They include purchases of up to $680,000 in Eli Lilly stock. Around the same time, the administration made decisions expected to benefit the company’s GLP-1 business. That’s raising ethical questions.
