As part of the ROOTED project, we spent a wonderful day at Villa Messina Care Home at the end of April, connecting with residents through nature-based activities. Together, we got creative with clay, planted aromatic herbs and explored new ways of connecting with the natural world. We also introduced wildlife cameras that will help residents observe birds and other wildlife around the home. During the visit, we presented the nature-based activity manual developed through the ROOTED project to the CareMalta management team. This resource will support similar activities with residents in the future. These activities are designed to encourage curiosity, stimulate memories and create meaningful connections with nature, regardless of age. The ROOTED project brings people together through shared experiences in nature, promoting wellbeing, lifelong learning and environmental awareness.
