A gift that keeps on giving — creating a new generation of health leaders.| Cohort 2 Graduation

After 8 months of hard work, intense trainings, mentorship, and deep dedication, our government fellows are officially graduating from the Health Systems & Financing Accelerator (HSFA) Fellowship Program (Cohort 2). These fellows have spent their journey building real, actionable health reforms — from strengthening community health systems, to improving maternal health, to financing and transforming primary healthcare. These aren’t just academic exercises. These are reforms already shaping lives on the ground. To open this milestone week, Soleine reflects on what makes this fellowship so special, and why it matters: “When you are working in government, there are so many mountains to climb — economic pressures, fiscal pressures, political pressures. And yet, you still carry the responsibility and ownership of delivering change for the people.” “For FAH, this fellowship has become central to how we see change in health financing and health systems — an equal investment in two legs. The first is the people: building their health financing skills, leadership abilities, and a network of change agents across the continent.” “The second is the policy or program they lead. Each fellow has done significant work to build evidence-based reforms — many now endorsed by ministers and already creating impact on the ground.” As we celebrate the graduation of Cohort 2, we look forward to sharing more stories of bold ideas, powerful reforms, and African-led solutions — grounded in ownership, resilience, vision, and impact. 🌍 Here’s to the leaders shaping the future of health systems across the continent.
