Our Nurses, Our Future

Our Nurses, Our Future

Across Africa, nurses and midwives are the backbone of our health systems, making up 37% of the health workforce and delivering up to 90% of primary healthcare services in many settings. Yet despite their critical role, the system they sustain continues to face major challenges, from workforce shortages to the ongoing loss of skilled professionals to migration. So we asked nurses in Kenya: What is your vision for nursing and midwifery over the next 5–10 years—and what needs to change to get there? In this video, they share powerful insights on: Strengthening primary health care systems Investing in the health workforce Creating better working conditions and career pathways Building a future where quality care is accessible to all Their voices make one thing clear: integrated, people-centred primary health care is essential to achieving Universal Health Coverage. The Financing Alliance for Health (FAH) is proud to partner with the Nurse and Midwife Alliance (NMA) —supporting their work to strengthen leadership, advocacy, and investment in the nursing workforce. Because investing in nurses is investing in stronger, more resilient health systems. #InternationalNursesDay #Nurses #PrimaryHealthCare #UHC #AfricaHealth #Kenya #InternationalNursesDay, #nursesKenya, #nursingAfrica, #midwivesKenya, #primaryhealthcare, #universalhealthcoverage, #healthworkforce, #Africahealthsystems, #nursingleadership, #FAH, #FinancingAlliancefor Health, #NationalNursesAssociationofKenya, #NNAK, #communityhealth, #healthsystemsstrengthening, #braindrainAfrica, #healthcareworkersAfrica
