Africa's health financing landscape is facing a defining moment. Countries are navigating a perfect storm of rising debt pressures, declining donor funding, and growing health needs. As governments work to do more with less, the need for stronger health financing leadership has never been greater. In this video, Financing Alliance for Health Co-CEO Soleine Scotney shares why the launch of Cohort 3 of the Health Systems and Financing Accelerator Fellowship comes at exactly the right time. This year's fellowship brings together leaders from both Ministries of Health and Ministries of Finance across Africa, recognizing that sustainable health financing cannot be solved by one sector alone. As Soleine explains: "Sometimes it feels like the Ministry of Health is speaking Russian and the Ministry of Finance is answering in Greek." The fellowship aims to bridge that gap by equipping government leaders with the tools, skills, and networks needed to mobilize more resources for health, improve public financial management, strengthen primary health care systems, and turn policy reforms into measurable impact.
