This webinar was organized by the Division for Inclusive Social Development (DISD) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA). This webinar drew on findings from the forthcoming publication Oxford Handbook of the Sociology of Global Elites, including results from the World Elite Database project which considers comparative features of elite formation across the globe. Professor Savage focused especially on the role of elite visibility and the ways that elite power is exercised both ‘under the radar’ and through media and online platforms.
