AHAIC - Halving Emergency Mortality in Uganda: The Importance of Investing in Skilled Health Workers

Today on Tuesday March 4, 2025, 14:00 PM – 15:30 PM CAT we are hosting an event at AHAIC 2025 in Kigali, Rwanda. Our side event in partnership with the Uganda Ministry of Health (MoH) will demonstrate how long-term, locally driven investments in the health workforce can improve health outcomes and save lives. Our Uganda Country Director, Irene Atuhairwe and Program Manger, Andrew Twineamatsiko will deliver a presentation on The Importance of Investing in Skilled Health Workers to launch a joint report with the MoH on Emergency Medicine in Uganda. Followed by remarks from the Uganda Ministry of Health Commissioner for Emergency Medical Services, Dr. John Baptist Waniaye. To strengthen regional knowledge-sharing, with significant emphasis on lessons learned from the scale-up of a national emergency medicine system in Uganda, we will continue the conversation with a panel discussion. Participants include the President of the Emergency Care Society of Uganda Dr. Doreen Alaleit and Executive Director, Emergency Medicine, The Abbott Fund, Tanzania Dr. Hendry Sawe
