This World Refugee Day, meet Mariam, Pang and Monica, three young refugee women in Kakuma and Dadaab building futures through skill, work, care and leadership. Mariam is a welder and trainer in Kakuma. Pang is trained in physiotherapy and hopes to open a clinic. Monica is a farmer in Dadaab, working alongside other women in insect farming, poultry keeping and crop production. On 20 June, through the UNHCR–Mastercard Foundation partnership, they will join 30 young refugee women and more than 70 women professionals in Kenya for a day of skills exchange and learning. The day will also mark the start of a mentorship platform connecting young refugee women with women leaders beyond the day itself.
