Scaling up the hydropower potential in Central Asia

The EU is spearheading initiatives to accelerate Central Asia’s sustainable energy transition by boosting hydropower and strengthening grid interconnections through regional green initiatives and national energy policy reforms.

The Team Europe Initiative on Water, Energy, and Climate Change, launched in 2022 with over €800 million in funding, aims to enhance sustainable water management, renewable energy, and regional grid interconnections in Central
Asia for improved energy security and efficiency.

This video highlights a dedicated scale-up session on scaling up the hydropower potential in Central Asia held at the Global Gateway Forum 2025.
