Building Drought-Resilient Communities in Northern Kenya
The Aroo community in Northern Kenya has been severely impacted by drought, after the failure of five consecutive rain seasons, causing a loss of livestock, income, and food security. Support from USAID and others led to the construction of an elevated steel water tank, community water kiosks, livestock troughs, and more. The USAID Resilience Learning Activity, under the Feed the Future Kenya Livestock Market Systems Activity (a Leader with Associates contracting mechanism held by ACDI/VOCA), works closely with the Partnership for Resilience and Economic Growth (PREG) to build the resilience of communities.
