Building Sustainable Landscapes Together | SLPI Phase 1 Results

Across Indonesia’s key commodity landscapes, sustainability is no longer an aspiration—it is becoming reality. The Sustainable Landscape Program Indonesia (SLPI) is a bilateral cooperation between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of Switzerland, implemented by UNDP across four landscapes in Sumatra and Kalimantan. Working across 10 districts with four landscape consortia—LASR (Aceh), SPLP (Riau), MOSAIC (Central Kalimantan), and SUSTAIN Kutim (East Kalimantan)—SLPI connects policy, practice, and partnerships to advance sustainable land use. Phase 1 achievements include: - 24,555 smallholder farmers engaged - Strengthened multi-stakeholder forums across four landscapes - Improved working conditions reported by over 2,600 workers - 47 companies building sustainability capacity ~800,000 hectares of landscapes strengthened for environmental protection - USD 6.8 million mobilized through private sector co-funding By aligning national and local policies, supporting smallholders, and strengthening responsible supply chains, SLPI demonstrates how collaboration can deliver both environmental protection and improved livelihoods. As the program moves forward, SLPI continues to build the foundations for more resilient communities, better environmental governance, and sustainable commodity production in Indonesia.
