UNICEF child-friendly space in White Nile State, a safe space to learn, play and heal
At Al Kashafa refugee camp in White Nile State, UNICEF and partners, through the PROSPECTS programme, are creating safe child-friendly spaces where displaced and refugee children can learn, play, and begin to heal.
Each day, more than 150 children from refugee, displaced, and host communities take part in structured activities. Mornings are dedicated to play, drawing, and creative expression, while afternoons provide catch-up learning through the Alternative Learning Programme (ALP). Trained counsellors and animators also offer psychosocial support, protection services, and help support family tracing and reunification.
These spaces are supported through the PROSPECTS Partnership, funded by the Government of the Netherlands and implemented by UNICEF, the International Labour Organization (ILO), and UNHCR. The programme strengthens access to inclusive education by supporting learning opportunities, training teachers, and expanding pathways for children and young people affected by displacement.
Even in the midst of conflict, every child deserves a place to feel safe, supported, and able to learn again. #ForEveryChild
