Alawiya: From Classroom Shelter to Classroom Teacher
Displaced from Al Fasher, Alawiya now lives inside a classroom in Rokero, North Darfur — with her four children. Her husband is missing.
At night, she sleeps on the classroom floor alongside other displaced families. Each room shelters five families.
In the morning, she changes her clothes. And she returns to the same classroom — this time as a teacher.
“To rise from this tragedy, there is no way forward but through education. And through education, peace will prevail.”
