Last year marked an important milestone: 50 years of technical cooperation between Ghana and Germany. Five decades of working side by side, learning from each other, and building solutions that respond to real needs on the ground.
To reflect on this journey, we produced a documentary that brings the story to life not just through statistics, but through the people, partnerships, and sectors that have shaped Ghana’s development over the years.
From skills development and job creation to climate action, digital innovation, governance, and health systems, the documentary captures how our cooperation has evolved and adapted to Ghana’s priorities at every stage. What connects these areas is a shared focus on people — strengthening institutions, expanding opportunities, and supporting sustainable livelihoods.
This work shows up in many ways. In efforts to equip young people with practical skills for today’s labour market, support for cleaner energy and more efficient systems that protect the climate, strengthening agribusinesses that create jobs and grow local economies, promoting good governance and social cohesion, helping build a digital economy that works for everyone and strengthening local pharmaceutical capacity to improve health security and resilience.
Taken together, these are not isolated interventions. They are part of a long-term partnership built on trust, consistency, and shared responsibility — and a belief that lasting development happens when solutions are locally rooted and collaboratively delivered.
This documentary is a moment to look back with pride, but also to look forward with purpose. The work continues, shaped by the same commitment that has guided the partnership for 50 years: building a future worth living around the world.
Here’s to the journey so far — and to what lies ahead.
