Clara Raised Bog in the Irish midlands is one of Ireland’s most intact peatland ecosystems and a newly labelled station within the ICOS network. Researchers at the site study how restored peatlands store and release carbon, how they respond to climatic extremes and how their hydrology shapes greenhouse gas dynamics. ExploreICOS is a video series presenting the people, the stations and the activities of ICOS, the Integrated Carbon Observation System. ICOS produces standardised data on greenhouse gases, which is essential in understanding and mitigating climate change. Our data is being used by scientists, governments, and international organisations in their efforts to solve challenges caused by global warming.
