How day care services help children with intellectual disabilities to socialize and thrive
10-year-old Eva is attending a day care centre in Kyiv every day. Here, she and other children with intellectual disabilities receive specialised social services, build practical life skills, socialize and study under the care of a professional team.
Services provided by the NGO WeCan are not only helping children but also their parents giving them the space to focus on their own wellbeing, careers and household matters.
The WeCan’s team received a small grant for the local social service providers under the UK government's #SPIRIT Programme aimed at building more inclusive and effective social protection systems in Ukraine. To achieve this, 120 social service providers from 10 regions received grant support.
