Markets for Change - Samoa (overview)
The Markets for Change (M4C) Programme, currently in its second phase, is a transformative gender equality and women’s economic empowerment project that supports and develops safe, inclusive, and non-discriminatory marketplaces in rural and urban areas of Fiji, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
M4C brings together governments, market vendors and market vendor associations, civil society organisations and UN agencies to promote gender equality through the economic empowerment of women market vendors in the target countries.
M4C targets diverse market vendor producers (e.g. produce, handicrafts, seafood, cooked food), including full and part-time vendors, rural vendors, vendor-farmers, vendors who are part of family businesses, and vendors with disabilities.
M4C is implemented by UN Women, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Governments of Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.
