In order to contest lack of information, lack of resources and weak confidence, youth groups from Nairobi are engaging in data collection and mobilisation. Through these processes, they are meaningfully engaging with and participating in city forums and decision making. This video was produced by Muungano wa Wanavijiji and SDI Kenya, for an exchange organised in 2025 by the housing justice team at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), as part of the 'Neighbourhoods Fit for Diverse Young People: Civic Media Practices and Urban Claims Making in Nepal and India (YCIV)' project, and facilitated through partners of the Hub for Housing Justice.
