In informal settlements, young single mothers are an often-excluded voice from collective narratives and decision-making spaces. Making their stories visible is a key strategy to challenge stigma and make sure no one is left behind in community processes. This video was produced by Community Mappers Kenya, for an exchange organised in 2025 by the housing justice team at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), as part of the 'Neighbourhoods Fit for Diverse Young People: Civic Media Practices and Urban Claims Making in Nepal and India (YCIV)' project, and facilitated through partners of the Hub for Housing Justice.
