Youth strategies from informal settlements: voices from Lagos, Nigeria
Young people from Lagos, Nigeria, are using several means to mobilise and get their voices heard: from engaging into formal councillorship to training into media production; from calling for active inclusion of youth in planning process to the production of a feature film (‘The Legend of the Vagabond Queen of Lagos’) to tackle stigma and exclusion.
This video was produced by Media4Change, for an exchange organised in 2025 by the housing justice team at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), as part of the 'Neighbourhoods Fit for Diverse Young People: Civic Media Practices and Urban Claims Making in Nepal and India (YCIV)' project, and facilitated through partners of the Hub for Housing Justice.
