Uganda Leads Coordinated Action Against Ebola

Ebola remains a risk in Uganda, especially in border areas and vulnerable communities. Uganda is leading a coordinated national response, with surveillance, treatment, contact tracing and public awareness measures in place. Screening has expanded to 31 priority points of entry, while refugee transit and reception centres continue efforts to reduce exposure risks. The United Nations team in Uganda, led by Resident Coordinator Leonard Zulu, is working alongside national authorities and partners across the response. WHO is guiding the health response, UNICEF is engaging communities, IOM is strengthening border screening, UNHCR is working in refugee settings and WFP has delivered 33 metric tons of vital supplies to the region. Progress is being made, but sustained support is essential. Of the $15.8 million required, $12.7 million is still needed.
