Its remnants remain beneath the soil. For 14 million Syrians forced from their homes, the dream of returning is often blocked by a silent enemy: mines and unexploded ordnance. A single explosive device can paralyse entire communities, delaying learning for children and preventing farmers from cultivating their fields. Mine action is a critical step toward: 🏠 Families returning to their neighborhoods. 🎒 Children playing and learning without fear. 🌾 Restoring the backbone of the economy. Through survey, clearance, risk education, and victim assistance, the United Nations team in Syria, including UNMAS, and partners, are contributing to national efforts to rebuild Syria, one cleared step at a time.
