Hope starts with a single stitch...
When the world feels overwhelming, it’s easy to feel like there’s not much you can do. In an Oxfam bookshop in Swansea, volunteers are finding their own way to make a difference, one stitch at a time. They're knitting hats to raise money for the Gaza appeal.
“Knitting is about hope.” For some, it’s personal. “My mum taught me to knit, so it makes me connected to her.”
It’s also a reminder that even the smallest gesture matters. “If someone donates a hat for £5, that can make a difference to somebody.”
Along the way, it has also become a place to spend time together, to talk, and to feel part of a something.
“You don’t have to give in to hopelessness. There are things you can do to make a difference.”
