Program’s result for Implementation and Achievement of NDCs in the Pacific Alliance 2022-2026

In 2022, Gold Standard was selected by Environment and Climate Change Canada to support countries in the Pacific Alliance, including Chile, Colombia, Peru, Mexico and Ecuador as an invited country, to strengthen national climate measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) systems and improve access to public and private climate finance, including through international carbon markets.  The four-year programme (ending on 31 March 2026) focused on strengthening the transparency, accuracy and comparability of emissions data used to track progress towards the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and the goals of the Paris Agreement. Robust MRV systems play a critical role in enabling countries to attract sustainable finance, engage effectively with international carbon markets and accelerate climate action while supporting communities most affected by climate change.
