Autonomous Systems and Future Warfare
On 18 March, ASPI hosted a panel discussion exploring the importance of autonomous systems and potential opportunities for the Australian Defence Force to pursue future capability development that embraces a full range of autonomous platforms.
Featuring Major General Hugh Walter Meggitt AM CSC, David Goodrich OAM, Dr Oleksandra Molloy and Dr Malcolm Davis, the conversation examined how the development of autonomous and semi-autonomous uncrewed systems - in the air, at sea, and on land - will evolve in coming years, particularly in the Australian operational context.
Panelists also considered the practical application of autonomous systems in terms of shaping future ADF capability development and force structure, and the implications for Australian defence industry.
