Reclaiming the arts in global public education and beyond

Despite our wide awareness of today’s unfolding polycrisis, we find ourselves applying the same logic and reaching for the same tools, even as they fail to deliver the systemic change we need. The arts hold a huge untapped potential: Arts unlock pathways beyond the reach of traditional approaches. The arts can help us rebuild beyond our divisions and restore our human connection. With arts we are able to shift perspectives, influence behaviour, and evoke empathy—the emotional foundation of meaningful, lasting social transformation. The arts are not peripheral, but a powerful driver of social impact. Join us to examine arts in public education systems—one of the major levers of change in shaping the place and role of arts in society. We will be presenting From Margins to Masterpieces, the most comprehensive and up-to-date global report on integrating the arts into public education systems worldwide. The conversation will also introduce Arts For Humanity, a new global initiative focused on reclaiming the power of the arts for collective well-being. Featuring: Werner Bachstein Director of Community Arts Lab by Porticus and Chairman of Community Arts Network Samar Bandak Managing Director, Co-Lead of Community Arts Network Heddy Lahmann Assistant Professor and Co-director of International Education, New York University Yazmany Arboleda Community Arts Network Senior Artistic Advisor and New York City’s inaugural People’s Artist at the Civic Engagement Commission
