The State of Feminist Funding in Francophone West Africa (French)
Feminist movements in Francophone Africa continue to face mounting political instability, rising anti-rights and anti-gender ideologies, and the severe effects of climate change, all with limited fiscal support.
Over half of the countries in Africa are French-speaking, but funding opportunities, movement organising and advocacy spaces are set up with English speakers in mind. Barriers to access leave Francophone feminist movements starved of crucial financial support, and though these movements have proven to be dynamic and innovative, it’s time for funders to step up and meet the moment.
Join us for a conversation with expert speakers and activists from the region on the current state of feminist organizing in Francophone West Africa and how funders can increase their support to these movements.
