OMICSE's Bio-Enterprises in Ecuador's Highlands
In the highlands of Ecuador, Organización de Mujeres Indígenas y Campesinas Sembrando Esperanza (OMICSE) is turning climate adaptation into opportunity. Through the Locally Led Adaptation program, grassroots women are building three bio-enterprises: liquid organic biofertilizers, agroecological kits, and medicinal teas focused on women's health.
Their biofertilizers, which are made from natural ingredients by rural women producers, strengthen crops, improve yields, and care for the soil, all while bringing healthier food to their communities and deepening local food sovereignty. Nature-based, women-led, and rooted in sustainable agriculture. 🌿
At the Biodiversity Fair in November 2025, OMICSE brought their brand to life with a new logo, a community mural, and products made to the highest quality standards. This is what locally led adaptation looks like. 🌾
