Violet Shivutse, Global Chair of the Huairou Commission, presented her Intervention at the First International Day of Care and Support, celebrated on October 31, 2023. She spoke on the theme of "Boosting Care and Support: A Catalyst for Economic Independence and Resilience", drawing on the experience of the Huairou Commission on advancing human rights, gender, disability, and age-responsive care and support policies and programmes. Violet is also the Founder-Director of the grassroots organisation Shibuye Community Health Workers, Kenya, and currently sits on the Management Committee of the Global Alliance for Care.
