The keynote and the opening panel addressed the overall theme of the conference - the increasing politicisation of aid and its tensions vis-à-vis a principled humanitarian approach; the radical need for financial prioritisation and how this process could be managed in a strategic, principled way by donors as well as aid organisations. It also focused on related power shifts and asked to which extent the system is facing reform, reset or a fundamentally new approach.
