Out of the box: Access entangled - Humanitarian Dimplomacy in times of Contested Aid
How can Humanitarian Diplomacy be implemented to ensure Humanitarian Access in times of crisis?
This question is explored in depth in the new report published by the IRC: https://www.rescue.org/sites/default/files/2025-09/Access%20Entangled%20IRC.pdf.
Humanitarian Diplomacy is much discussed in these times of contested aid, frequent disrespect of International Humanitarian Law and humanitarian principles, shrinking operational space and access for humanitarian actors.
The International Rescue Comitee (IRC) and the Centre for Humanitarian Action (CHA) invite to an “Out of the Box” online lunch talk with Amsel Bilal Saleem (Senior Policy Analyst, IRC), Max Freundlieb (Global Advocacy and Political Advisor, Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe) to discuss the report and the role of governments like Germany and suggestions how donors could live up to expectations and fulfill the study’s recommendations.
A response will be delivered by Christina Förster (Deputy Head of Division S09/Implementation of German Humanitarian Aid in Countries and Regions, GFFO)
