💡About this event
This regional exchange provides a platform to explore trends in INFFs and sustainable financing. The forum will facilitate dialogue, share technical advice, and provide practical tools for policymakers, private sector actors, and international partners invested in sustainable development.
💡Background
In 2015, United Nations Member States set a visionary path towards sustainable development by adopting the UN 2030 Agenda, which consists of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals envision a world of stability, a healthier planet, fair and resilient societies, and thriving economies. As we stand at the halfway point of implementing this Agenda, we must confront the fact that despite significant progress, many regions, including the Asia-Pacific, are falling behind in reaching the goals. Pandemic-related crises have compounded existing challenges and disrupted development efforts, indicating a pressing need to accelerate progress.
A crucial facilitator in this journey towards sustainable development is sustainable financing. Integrated National Financing Frameworks (INFFs), which are being established in more than 80 countries, can guide resource allocation, tackle policy barriers to unleash both private and innovative financing and shape financing of sustainable development in a more effective and coordinated way. Countries across the Asia-Pacific region are leading in the use of the INFF approach to build a strong financing system that has in its core sustainability facilitated by public and private capital and coherent policies.
