World Health Day - HPV Vaccine - Let's bust some myths with facts
HPV stands for Human Papillomavirus. It is a common sexually transmitted infection (STI) that spreads through skin-to-skin contact. HPV isn't just linked to cervical cancer. Infections with high-risk HPV strains can lead to certain other cancers in men and women.
India launched its first free, nationwide HPV vaccination programme. The vaccine is provided free of cost at designated Government health facilities, including Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (Primary Health Centres), Community Health Centres, Sub-District and District Hospitals, and Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals.
