In the Sundarbans mangrove forests of West Bengal, India, coastal communities rely on the mangroves to fish and collect other resources to earn a difficult living. But overuse and climate change threaten this vital resource. In 2025, Landesa introduced an alternative livelihood training program, designed to reduce dependence on mangrove while teaching women about aquaculture and sustainable farming practices.
