Day 4 - 28 May 2026 - Thematic Session 10 - Healthier Food Environments, Nutrition and NCD Reduction
#RomeNutritionWeek2026 | Day 4 - 28 May 2026 - Thematic Session 10 - Delivering as One: Accountable Action for Healthier Food Environments, Nutrition, and NCD Reduction
Diet-related noncommunicable diseases are rising globally, driven by food environments that promote unhealthy diets, including widespread ultra-processed foods and structural inequalities. Addressing this requires coordinated, multisectoral action. Despite available evidence and cost-effective policies, implementation remains uneven due to power imbalances. Countries are increasingly using dietary guidelines and food classification systems to drive change, supported by global initiatives such as the RECAP to strengthen coherent, accountable action.
Organizers:
Nutrition Technical Working Group of the United Nations Interagency Task Force on Noncommunicable Diseases Prevention and Control, Secretariat of the UN Interagency Task Force on Noncommunicable Diseases Prevention and Control, WHO, FAO, UNICEF, UNDP, IDLO, Ministry of Health of Brazil, Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), UN-Nutrition Secretariat
