Day 1 - 25 May 2026 - Thematic Session 3 - Acute Malnutrition in Global Crises
#RomeNutritionWeek2026 | Day 1 - 25 May 2026 - Thematic Session 3 - Acute Malnutrition in Global Crises: Rethinking Evidence and Elevating Policy Priorities
Acute malnutrition remains persistently high in crisis-affected countries, as highlighted by the 2026 Global Report on Food Crises. When data are delayed, missing, or poorly aligned to the realities of specific populations and seasons, responses become less effective. The session will underscore the need to move beyond crisis tracking alone to enable earlier preventive, multisectoral action to address acute malnutrition. We will explore policy recommendations to protect and invest in strong data systems, and to target limited resources to those most at risk of acute malnutrition.
