Restoring India's lost harvest
Reducing food waste means higher incomes for farmers, improved food security for local communities, and lower greenhouse gas emissions. But the causes of food waste are not always understood.
That’s why the World Resource Institute is working to understand the reasons for crop losses in the two Indian states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, such as tomato, onion, and soybean. The organisation turns this research into concrete solutions across the food supply chain to help reduce food waste. This work ensures higher income, improves local food security, and helps lower greenhouse gas emissions.
This work falls under our Environment Programme, which supports healthy, just, and sustainable food systems around the world. Find out more here: https://oakfnd.org/programmes/environment/
