“Justice Is Not a Luxury, It is a Basic Human Right" – Interview to Rayane Baydoun
In this LEiP training interview, Rayane Baydoun – lawyer, former Youth Parliament Member, and Counsel Secretary – shares how her path into public life was shaped not by a single decision, but by years of personal and professional experiences within Lebanon’s complex realities.
From a young age, she believed that justice is not a luxury but a fundamental right. Yet with time, she realized that justice alone is not enough unless political action protects it. This conviction reached its peak after the Beirut port explosion in August 2020 – an event she describes not as an accident, but as a state crime. It marked a turning point that pushed her to engage more deeply in public affairs.
Her work in the Youth Parliament reinforced a powerful truth: the voice of youth matters, and a new generation must redefine politics. For Rayane, politics is not about positions or titles–it is about defending justice, dignity, and the innocent. And above all, it requires trust; a trust built not with slogans, but with real political action.
Watch this inspiring conversation to discover why she believes that entering politics is one of the hardest yet most honest paths to creating meaningful change.
