SURVIVING PROLONGED DROUGHT: HOW INTEGRATED OUTREACH AND CASH ASSISTANCE ARE HELPING FAMILIES

In Northern Kenya, prolonged drought has pushed families to the brink after nearly a year without rain, leaving livestock dead or displaced and livelihoods collapsed. Mothers and children are bearing the greatest burden, with rising cases of malnutrition and limited access to food and health services. This video follows the experiences of affected families as they struggle to survive and care for their children under extremely harsh conditions. Through Save the Children’s integrated outreach services and cash assistance, vulnerable households were reached with lifesaving nutrition support, treatment for malnourished children, and emergency cash to help them access food. Despite the ongoing drought, these interventions are helping to stabilize health, restore dignity, and bring hope to families facing one of the worst food crises in the region.
