In Bardiya, Nepal, farmers like Khusi Ram Tharu are transforming their farming through climate-smart practices. With training on vermicompost, 25 group members now make it at home, keeping soils cool in hot climates and improving productivity without extra supplements. Farmers have gained knowledge about nurseries, vegetable plants, and effective farming techniques, increasing yields enough to sell in other villages. They’ve also adopted mulching systems and tunnels to protect crops from extreme weather. With support from Heifer, this has been a continuous journey of learning, adaptation, and sustainable growth.
